In 2023, Clann na hOman was delighted to be awarded Healthy Clubs foundation-level status from the GAA for our club's activities.
The Healthy Club project aims to help us explore the holistic health of our members and the wider community we serve in Muscat.
The project aims to help GAA clubs recognize their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and create a health-enhancing environment for all involved - players, coaches, officers, parents, supporters, and the wider community.
Based on national and international best practices, the 'Healthy Club' model promotes a sustainable, health-focused philosophy integrated into daily club life. It also seeks to position GAA clubs as central community hubs and local leaders in health promotion.
Clann na hOman is proud to be one of a growing number of international clubs participating in the current phase of this program.
Our social hiking group organise regular group treks and walks around Muscat for club members and the wider community. This includes trails which cater for families and younger participants to get involved.
Clann na hOman's 'Lá na gClub' brings all sections of our club together for a fun evening of Gaelic Games activities. A training session with a difference!
Our annual 'Darkness into Light Muscat' event takes place each May, in support of the mental health awareness.
Fitness with a twist! Our social fitness sessions on Qurum Beach are open to all and are a great opportunity to meet new people.
The welfare of all of our members is always a priority at Clann na hOman. Across 2022 and 2023, our club members and supporters helped promote a number of fundraising initiatives for our own mobile defibrillator. These included in-house tournaments among our ladies and men's teams, kit sales and raffles, alongside personal donations.
Spearheaded by our Welfare Officer, Dan O'Brien, our AED was purchased and delivered in May 2023.
